Marriage / Holy Matrimony

The sacrament of marriage is a visible sign of God’s love for the Church. When a man and a woman are married in the Church, they receive the grace needed for a lifelong bond of unity. Marriage is a union, a divine covenant that binds spouses together during their entire lifetime. The sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love which Christ has loved His church; the grace of the sacrament thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life. We wish you God’s choicest blessings as you prepare for your great day!!

Amidst all the excitement and your busy schedule please spare just a few minutes to read and understand the following essential instructions:

  1. The Marriage Fees for parishioners is INR 2,500/- and for non-parishioners INR 4,500/-. This includes: the Mass, the Church, the red carpet, sitting arrangements for the Bride and Groom and the video connection.

  2. The Wedding Mass timing is 4:00 p.m. You are requested to be punctual and begin your Mass at 4:00 p.m. sharp as the parish scheduled Mass follows your Nuptial Mass.

  3. In the case of another parishioner wanting to get married the same day as you have booked the Cathedral for your marriage, both parties will have to share the Wedding Mass.

  4. Your Wedding Mass Liturgy and the hymns must be approved by the priest of St. Patrick’s Cathedral before you print it. Outside choirs are requested to get their own musical instruments such as the key-board, guitar, etc.

  5. Temporary bookings for wedding Masses are accepted only for a period of 15 days. Failing to confirm the same (by paying the Marriage fees) will result in a cancellation.

  6. Cathedral booking for non-parishioners will be accepted only six months prior to the date of marriage. Non-parishioners should make arrangements to get their own priest to celebrate the Mass and bless the Nuptials.

  7. You are allowed to have your own floral arrangements for the wedding Mass, but sticking anything either on the wall or on the pews, decorating the altar or decorating the church with balloons, confetti etc is not permitted at all. The decorations in the Cathedral should be cleared up immediately after the wedding Mass as the parish scheduled Mass follows your Nuptial Mass.

  8. Bursting of crackers inside the Cathedral premises is strictly disallowed.

  9. Bride/Bridesmaids/Readers are requested to kindly wear decent gowns to keep with the sanctity of the Church. (Wearing straps, will-power, backless gowns etc. are not allowed in the Church. If required, you may use a shawl or stole during the Mass).

  10. Please collect a leaflet from our Parish Office for further detailed instructions and the Rite of Marriage.

  11. In case you would like to have your own priest (other than the priests of the parish) to bless your Nuptials, you have to intimate the parish fathers to enable them to issue a delegation of faculty.

All the best! God bless!
